Analogue
A clock or watch is called "analogue" when it has moving hands, and hours marked from 1 to 12, to show you the time.

Automatic
An automatic or self-winding watch is a mechanical watch in which the mainspring is wound automatically as a result of natural motion of the wearer's arm, to provide energy to run the watch, making manual winding unnecessary.

Chronograph
A chronograph is a specific type of watch that is used as a stopwatch combined with a display watch. A basic chronograph has an independent sweep second hand; it can be started, stopped, and returned to zero by successive pressure on the stem.

Digital
A digital clock is a type of watch that displays the time digitally (i.e. in numerals or other symbols), as opposed to an analogue watch, where the time is indicated by the positions of rotating hands.

Duo Display
A watch that displays the time, both by hour and minute hands, (an analogue display) and by digital digits (a digital display). This is also known as duo display or an AnaDigi watch.

Eco-Drive

Kinetic
Kinetic technology generates electricity from movement caused by the wearers arm. The kinetic system is based on a rotor spinning at high speed. Each timepiece has a small capacitor storing an electrical current, which is released when the watch needs to be powered. The current stored in an ESU electrical storage unit. This stores electricity that powers the watch when its not on the wrist. Kinetic watches operate for six months if not worn at all.
Mechanical
A mechanical watch is a watch that uses a mechanical mechanism to measure the passage of time, as opposed to modern quartz watches which function electronically. It is driven by a spring (called a mainspring) which must be wound periodically.

Quartz
A quartz Watch is a watch that uses an electronic oscillator that is regulated by a quartz crystal to keep time. This crystal oscillator creates a signal with very precise frequency, so that quartz watches are at least an order of magnitude more accurate than mechanical clocks.

Solar
A solar-powered watch or light-powered watch is a watch that is powered entirely or partly by a solar panel.
