Seiko Watches

The story of SEIKO begins in 1881, when K.Hattori, a clock repair store, opened in central Tokyo. Just eleven years later, the company made its first clock and, in 1895, its first pocket watch. Today the company is still dedicated to the perfection that the founder always strove to achieve.

Seiko watch quality, innovation and design

SEIKO is one of only a few fully integrated watch companies in the world. By manufacturing every component, SEIKO can guarantee the quality of every part of each watch produced. In addition, there is no compromise on design or quality as the brand continually strives for innovation in design and technology. This dedication to perfection has meant that SEIKO is the only manufacturer to excel in all areas of watch making; Mechanical, Spring Drive, Kinetic, Solar and Quartz. No other watch company is able to rival this array of technological mastery.

World class sponsorship

For nearly five decades SEIKO has been dedicated to the timing of world-class sport, having served at six Olympic Games, many Asian and Commonwealth Games and every IAAF World Championship since 1987. In 2014 SEIKO became the official watch partner of Novak Djokovic, one of the world's top tennis players. Seiko also sponsors Russian long jumper Darya Klishina and is also involved with the world of sailing through its sponsorship of the 49er class.

Clean energy, perfect timing

SEIKO Kinetic – You are the power

In 1988, after 18 years of R&D and with 50 patents applied for, SEIKO succeeded in creating the Kinetic watch. It was the first watch in the world to convert kinetic movement into electrical energy, and it remains, still today, the only watch with this remarkable technology. SEIKO Kinetic is a hybrid movement with features from both quartz and mechanical technology, providing the best of both – quartz accuracy with no battery change and power reserve of up to four years, dependent upon the model.

SEIKO Solar – The power of light

SEIKO launched the world's first solar watch in 1977 and has always been a pioneer in the development of this technology. SEIKO has continuously developed new Solar calibres as part of its 'clean-energy' philosophy and today the Solar collection features models for both men and women in sporty and dress styles, converting both natural and artificial light into power.
