A Royal Engagement
06 December 2010At last the famous Royal couple have announced their engagement. Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton last month whilst on holiday in Kenya. After lots of anticipation yesterday afternoon, the engagement ring was finally revealed. Originally belonging to William's late mother Princess Diana, Kate was proudly wearing the beautiful 18ct sapphire and diamond engagement ring. Kate, just so happened to be wearing a matching royal blue dress when they announced the good news.
Stunning combination of Sapphire and Diamond
Slightly different to the more modern trend of engagement rings, which is often a white gold or platinum solitaire diamond ring. Kate's engagement ring is certainly vintage and suits her modern classic style. Having worked as an accessories buyer herself, Kate will be sure to appreciate the 18 carat sapphire surrounded by stunning diamonds.
As William seems keen on traditions, the couple will probably stick to the tradition of having wedding rings made form Welsh Gold otherwise known as Clogau Gold. Since 1923 the Royal Family have been wearing wedding bands crafted from Clogau Gold.
