Piggin'
Piggin's are resin figurines created by wildlife and animal enthusiast and artist David Corbridge. The inspiration for Piggin' came one bright spring morning when David was sketching on the farm where he lived to live. He was captivated and amused by the perky and mischievous antics of one particular little pig who was playing with his friends in the barn. 'Tuesday', as David came to know him, exhausted by the day's events, stuck his head through an old tractor tyre and fell asleep. The idea that David had been searching for was in front of him, snoozing in the midday sun. Thus, Piggin' Tired - the first Piggin' figurine to be sculpted in 1993 - was born.
Initially, Piggin' looked much more pig-like, long snout and all. But over the years, as he developed more human-like frailties, he turned into the cheeky chappy we now know and love.
Piggin' now has many thousands of admirers who enjoy the fun and humour that comes with his every new pose and posture Piggin is a cheeky, humorous character who loves to eat - especially turnips. He has become a professional in so many ways. We are beginning to see his circle of animal friends growing as his creator, David Corbridge, extends the world of Piggin' to include ever more amazing creatures great and small.
David has now sculpted over 200 Piggin' pieces, as well as the ranges of Piggin' Celebrations, and the new Piggin' Professionals, launched in April 2002. The collection is in its 11th year. There is a Piggin' to be bought for every occasion, whether as a gift or to add to your own collection. There is sure to be at least one Piggin' who reflects the realities, the trials and the tribulations of your own life.
