The story behind Tatty Teddy
One day, not so long ago, the oldest, smallest house imaginable was being demolished and all unwanted items were thrown outside. Along with these - surely by some mistake - a small, brown teddy was also thrown out. There he remained throughout a bitter winter, trapped under piles of rubbish, forgotten with no friends to talk to and no one to love him.
He was frozen throughout that long, cold winter, his fluffy brown fur turned grey and his tiny nose turned blue. Eventually, he was found by a little girl who took pity on him and brought him home, where her grandmother stitched him back together.
She named him "Tatty Teddy" and, although he is now patched up and well-cared for, his fur will never return to its brown colour. Thanks to a little girl, Tatty Teddy has become a symbol of love and friendship with his sorrowful looks and blue nose.
