In 1983 Casio marked a turning point in watch history with the creation of the G-Shock. As tough asa watch can be, the G-Shock range features shock resistant construction to protect against impact and vibration. These watches are durable and push the boundaries of how a watch can be used and what they can do.
In designing the G-Shock range, Casio sought to defy the concept that a watch had to be thin and fragile. Casio set out to design the ultimate watch based on their Triple 10 concept.
The Triple 10 Concept calls for a watch that is:
- Water resistant to 10 bar (100m)
- Will last for up to 10 years
- Will withstand a drop of over 10 metres
By following these test rules Casio developed the Gravity Shock (G-Shock) range of watches, renowned for their durability, reliability and individual style.
G-Shock Features
The G-Shock is defined by the following features that ensure the strength of your watch.
• Ultra Hard Case
Made using advanced engineering techniques, the case is reinforced with steel rings for good measure. A heavy duty mineral glass adds to the shock resistance.
• Module Cushioning
The module is held in a steel housing and surrounded by a durable polyurethane casing which is, in turn, cushioned by a layer of tough rubber. As a result every knock is absorbed.
• Back Seal
The back seal of every G-Shock and Baby-G is fitted with a special ring that seals the module, casing and back cover to allow for water proofing to different levels, depending on the model.
• Stainless Steel Back Cover
The stainless steel back cover helps form a protective shell for the whole module.
• Bezel
The Bezel on the G-Shock is made from durable polyurethane to protect the display from even the hardest of blows.
