Accurist Watches at H.Samuel
Including dress watches, sports watches and every day watches, the Accurist collection at H.Samuel caters for every taste. Accurist are a well known brand, with a long history of producing the very best timepieces.
Founded in Clerkenwell
Accurist was founded in Clerkenwell in 1946. Accurist watches are made from Swiss components for guaranteed quality. Accurist 21 jewels was the first watch to promote the 21 Jewel lever movement and to support this they also became the first watch company to have a television advertising campaign.
Changing the Face of Watch Making
Accurist changed the way that we look at watches. Once considered either an investment, or a once in a life time purchase, Accurist encouraged customers to view watches as a fashion purchase. A range of fashion watches was launched by Richard Loftus, under the old England brand and changed the global watch market forever.
Swiss Connection
Having begun business in London, Accurist opened a Swiss office in La Chaux de Fonds to manage the manufacturing of their timepieces more closely.
Groundbreaking Developments
Moving into the 1970's, Accurist made such high quality digital watches that the Accurist digital was chosen as the official watch for Concorde pilots. Always at the forefront of marketing and trends, Accurist launched an award winning ad campaign featuring the famous Monty Python, John Cleese.
Speaking the Time
In 1986 Accurist was awarded the prestigious roll of sponsoring the speaking clock, allowing them to use the slogan, 'Accurist - the standard by which all watches are set.' This was an incredibly important role for the brand as it supported their claim of innovation and quality in their watchmaking.
World Time
Accurist became the first and so far only Watch Company to be formally associated with the Greenwich Observatory, providing them with the new Atomic Clock, which officially records the time for the world. In 1995 to celebrate this association with Greenwich Mean Time, the "Greenwich Commemorative collection", was launched in over 20 countries.
Watch of the Year 1997
In July 1997 Accurist won "Volume watch brand of the year" at The UK Jewellery Awards and 1999 saw the launch of Accurist's youth orientated accu.2 range. Supported by a high impact advertising campaign called "no ordinary old timer" success was instantaneous and the collection is sold in over 1500 outlets across the UK.
From Clerkenwell to the World
Accurist has become a global brand that is renowned for quality and innovation. With a dynamic management team that is committed to the founders principles, the future for Accurist looks to be just as exciting as the last 60 years.
